Black and Gold 1920s Speakeasy-inspired DIY Wedding at Huntsham Court in Devon

Lara and Ben’s wedding was a 2 day extravaganza, that took place at Huntsham Court in Devon.
The couple wanted to strike a balance between a relaxed and fun house party-feel and the glitz and glam of Art Deco and the Gatsby era.

Lots of family came from around the world (USA. Australia, Cyprus, Dubai, South Africa, Canada) and it was the first time in a long time that the whole family was together in one house! It was like one big slumber party with everyone around for the whole weekend.

Huntsham Court is a gorgeous old country house with beautiful entrance hall, amazing rooms, fireplaces, expensive furnishing and bookshelves full of old books, all of these provided a perfect backdrop for this glamorous vintage styled house party.

Lara and Ben had an outdoor ceremony with a non-traditional celebrant Samantha who led the ceremony. They walked down the aisle together to the sound of Coming Home by Leon Bridges. Their emotional ceremony included crystal healing ring blessing performed by Lara’s sister Taryn. (Taryn even decorated ceremony area with crystals which looked amazing swaying on the wind) Lara and Ben had written their own vows (that was a very emotional and beautiful moment and we have witnessed many tears falling down guests’cheeks that moment)

Lara and Ben’s wedding was planned to perfection. Couple only wanted to do what felt natural to them and what reflected them as a couple. They didn’t have a planner so they did everything themselves, from designing and making all the decor to infusing and bottling more than 100 sloe gin and whisky cocktail favours. They have also gathered lots of vintage bits of décor like crystal decanters and framed F Scott Fitzgerald quotes.

Polaroid’s of guests with their table names written on the back looked absolutely amazing! Each table was named after a different gin or whisky, with a bottle of that spirit as the centrepiece holding flowers. During the party, in the evening they we’re handing out hologram love specs – which were pretty cool and created nice photographic effect too! It was a real labour of love as Lara called it but it was definitely worth it!

Lara and Ben THANK you so much for inviting us to document your magical day, we are so happy we were able to stay with your lovely family for the whole weekend! It was an absolutely stunning day and we were so privileged we could be a part of it!
